Commitment to Data Privacy Protection

Protecting the security and privacy of your personal data is important to N.B. Crime Stoppers, Inc. and taken seriously, therefore, we conduct our business in compliance with applicable laws on data privacy protection and data security. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our users while providing a personalized and valuable service. We hope the policy outlined below will help you understand what data N.B. Crime Stoppers, Inc. may collect, how N.B. Crime Stoppers, Inc. uses and safeguards that data and with whom we may share it.

Personal Data

Through our website (www.crimenb.ca), N.B. Crime Stoppers, Inc. will not collect any personal data about you (e.g. your name, address, telephone number or email address), unless you voluntarily choose to provide us with it (e.g. by registration, survey, direct email, etc.), provide your consent, or unless otherwise permitted by applicable laws and regulations for the protection of your personal data.

N.B. Crime Stoppers, Inc. will not disclose your personal information to any outside parties without your prior consent.

Communications or Utilization Data

Through your use of telecommunications devices and services to access our website, your communications data (e.g. Internet protocol (IP) address) or utilization data (e.g. information at the beginning, end, and extent of each access, and information on the telecommunications services you accessed) are technically generated and could conceivably relate to personal data. To the extent that there is a compelling necessity, the collection, processing and use of your communications or utilization data will occur and will be performed in accordance with the applicable data privacy protection legal framework.

Non-Personal Data Collected Automatically

When you access our website, we may automatically (i.e., not by registration) collect non-personal data (e.g. type of Internet browser and operating system used, the domain name of the website from which you came, number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed). We may use this data and share it with our worldwide affiliates to monitor the attractiveness of our websites and improve their performance or content.

Cookies

To guarantee anonymity, our website uses a proxy server that overwrites individual IP addresses so third-party cookie tracking tools only see a proxy or `masked’ IP address, not the user’s original IP. This means we can’t track crime information submitted back to your electronic device.

To help us measure the success of our program, we use cookies across the website to monitor the performance of our digital marketing and analyze our visitor traffic. Where tracking is being used, we share information about the use of our site with our social media, advertising, and analytics partners. This information might be about your preferences or type of device used (e.g. phone, tablet or computer) and is mostly utilized to make the site work as you would expect it to. The information does not directly identify you, but it can give you a more personalized web experience. Even when allowing cookies, your anonymity when giving crime information will still be maintained.

Security

To protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss or alteration and against unauthorized disclosure or access, N.B. Crime Stoppers, Inc. uses technical and organizational security measures, including industry-standard encryption.

Any substantive changes to the N.B. Crime Stoppers, Inc. Privacy Policy will be posted on this webpage.

Submission and Disposition

Although we utilize physical, electronic, and administrative safeguards, including industry-standard encryption, due to the nature of the Internet and SMS delivery networks, we do not guarantee 100% security or timely delivery or reception of the submitted information. We do not guarantee or assume any responsibility for if, how, or when any submitted information may be reviewed or acted upon by law enforcement or public safety officials. Because the information that you submit may not be monitored by such parties on a regular basis, you should not use this service to report events presenting an immediate danger to life or property, or that otherwise constitutes an emergency as such reports may not receive an immediate response.
